Import your TV Time history into CouchPotato
Use a TV Time GDPR export ZIP you already saved to bring matching viewing records into CouchPotato. Keep the original file so you can refer to it if any entries need checking.

What you need
- CouchPotato installed on your iPhone or Android device.
- A CouchPotato account, accessed with a one-time email code.
- Your TV Time export in ZIP format, no larger than 8 MB.
- An internet connection to upload and process the file.
This guide starts with an export you already have. CouchPotato cannot recover a TV Time account or create an export on your behalf. Leave the archive as a ZIP; you do not need to extract its files.
Import the ZIP in Settings
- Open CouchPotato and sign in. Use the email address you want associated with your watch history.
- Open Settings from your Profile. Scroll to the section for your data.
- Choose “Import from TV Time”. Select your saved TV Time export ZIP in the file picker. Selecting the file starts its upload for import into the signed-in account.
- Let the import finish. Settings shows when processing is underway. Large libraries may take longer; the app also provides an email notification when processing finishes.
- Check the result. Review the completion message and your shows, movies and episode history. Compare any missing items with your original export.
What happens to your history?
CouchPotato matches supported records in the export to its catalog and adds the matching data to your account. Existing records are preserved; the import is not a replacement of your entire library.
Results depend on the archive and the available catalog matches. Unmatched titles, ambiguous entries, invalid records or unsupported data can be skipped. Do not assume that every field from your TV Time account will appear in CouchPotato.
If the import does not work
The ZIP is larger than 8 MB
The app rejects files above its 8 MB limit. Keep your original export and contact support through Settings. Renaming or splitting files manually can make the archive incompatible.
The file cannot be read
Check that the file is a non-empty TV Time export ZIP and that it has fully downloaded to your device. A renamed document or screenshot will not work.
The import is still processing
Check the status in Settings and the completion email. If the app reports a failure, use the support link in Settings and describe the error.
Some titles are missing
Check whether they were included in your export. Entries without a supported catalog match may be skipped. Search for the title in CouchPotato and add it manually if available.
I do not have a TV Time export
You can still use CouchPotato by searching for your shows and movies, adding them to your list and marking what you have watched manually.
